Fall 2020: Politics Discussion Panel

Artivism held a discussion forum featuring both students and teachers of the Peddie School. Topics discussed included the 2020 Election, healthcare, climate change, and more. Through discussion, we hope to shed more light on political and social issues like education inequality, so that we may approach better solutions soon.

ACADEMIC HELP

This fall and winter, 20+ volunteer tutors from Artivism offered daily homework help to Trenton students via Zoom. After discovering a language barrier problem, we recruited an ESL team to aid our students in English comprehension and speaking.

ARTS WORKSHOPS

This fall, we expanded our arts workshop team from 3 to 10 teachers. Our arts teachers taught weekly workshops in visual art, theater, and music. The three workshops collaboratively put together a student performance video featuring the work completed over the fall and winter months of over 25 students.

SHOWCASE

We use our showcases to raise awareness about education inequality. The Holiday Harmonies virtual showcase featured a total of 20 performers, ranging from students in high school to professionals on Broadway. Our talented performers include a variety of singers, dancers, and instrumentalists. Be sure to check our YT Channel, Artivism Fundraiser, to see the performance!

Spring 2020: Philosophy Discussion Panel

This spring, Peddie students and teachers gathered outside Swig once more to tackle philosophical questions such as:

Is free will real or just an illusion? If freedom is simply being able to do what you want, are animals freer than humans?

Should we focus on maximizing human life or human decency and dignity? How far can we go sacrificing people for the greater good?

Is suffering a necessary part of the human condition? What would people who never suffered be like?

TALLERES DE VERANO, SUMMER 2020

In collaboration with with the nonprofit Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund (LALDEF).

FUNDRAISING

Over the course of August, Artivism raised $2500 for LALDEF's Adult Education Sector. This money will go towards programs and materials that will help members of the community learn English and better integrate into their communities.

SUMMER WORKSHOPS

This past summer, our teachers Emmy (Executive Director), Kassidy (Music Director), and Lily (Performer Outreach) developed a theater workshop program for the students in the Talleres De Verano summer program. These workshops were offered throughout July and August to over 20 students in the Trenton area.

SHOWCASES

We put together three virtual showcases featuring over 40 performers to help raise awareness about education inequality and to encourage donations to LALDEF's Education Sector.

Fall 2024 - Spring 2025, LEADERSHIP MURAL AT THE RIVERA SCHOOL

The Artivism Mural Project brings students and community members together to create vibrant public art that celebrates leadership, creativity, and community voices. On May 20, over 480 students at Rivera Elementary participated in painting tiles based on the theme of leadership and how they see themselves taking on that role in the present and future. The project was made possible through the support of our sponsors and Rivera staff. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event unforgettable.

SUMMER 2025: ACADEMIC TUTORING & GRAPHIC DESIGN PROJECT IN KOREA + HONG KONG

Throughout July and August of 2025, low-income and racial minority students in the Hong Kong and Seoul regions received rigorous after-class tutoring sessions for academics and arts. As an end-of-summer group project, students worked together on graphic design software to create a custom calendar to take home with them!
